Purchasing Agent

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support procurement operations and ensure the timely acquisition of goods and services needed to support business objectives. This role will be responsible for vendor management, pricing negotiations, inventory coordination, and purchasing administration.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, negotiation abilities, and experience working with vendors and suppliers in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Procurement

  • Purchase goods, materials, and services in accordance with company policies and operational requirements.
  • Process purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of products and services.
  • Monitor purchasing activities to maintain adequate inventory levels and support operational needs.
  • Coordinate with department managers to forecast purchasing requirements.

Vendor Management

  • Research, evaluate, and select vendors based on pricing, quality, reliability, and service levels.
  • Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Assist with onboarding new suppliers and maintaining vendor records.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, discounts, and service agreements with vendors.
  • Monitor vendor performance and resolve issues as needed.

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Work closely with operations and management teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Track pricing trends and maintain purchasing history records.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
  • Assist in managing inventory-related reporting and analysis.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure purchasing documentation is accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
  • Maintain records related to pricing, vendor agreements, and purchasing transactions.
  • Generate reports and provide purchasing data to management as needed.
  • Support additional administrative and operational functions as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, or supply chain experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of purchasing procedures and procurement best practices.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with ERP, purchasing, inventory, or accounting software preferred.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
