Estimator – Structural Steel / Construction

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join a growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate project cost estimates by analyzing construction documents, performing material and labor takeoffs, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams.

This position plays a key role in ensuring projects are properly scoped and priced while meeting project timelines and client expectations.

Responsibilities

Prepare comprehensive project cost estimates, including material and labor takeoffs
Request and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to support project estimates
Review construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure accurate project scope
Coordinate with operations teams and vendors to determine project build methods for both shop fabrication and field installation
Work with clients and internal teams to ensure a clear understanding of project schedules and requirements
Compile and organize estimate documentation to support proposals and project planning
Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines

Qualifications

Basic understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Experience reviewing shop drawings
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and analyze spreadsheets
Experience with PDF markup/editing software such as Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat
Experience with Tekla EPM (Fabsuite) preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Work Environment

This role operates in an office environment and requires extended periods of reading, analysis, and computer-based work.
