Position: Payroll Specialist
Location: On-site, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $40,000 – $50,000 (based on experience)
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a great team. This role requires strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel, experience in payroll processing, and the ability to work with confidential information in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, IF Statements, SUMIF formulas, and other advanced functions (Macros and basic Visual Basic a plus)
2+ years of payroll experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience with garnishments and payroll compliance a plus
Tax knowledge a plus, but not required
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Responsibilities
Process payroll for employees across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Validate and input payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, and changes to W-4s, direct deposits, and addresses
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and system errors
Prepare payroll reports, monthly compensation sheets, and scheduled/ad hoc reports for leadership
Track and manage sick/vacation requests, accrual balances, and related employee inquiries
Maintain accurate payroll records and filing systems
Assist with setup, maintenance, and monitoring of garnishments
Write manual checks as needed
Conduct employment eligibility verifications
Support HR staff with reporting, compliance tracking, benefit uploads, and other administrative functions
Complete special projects and assist with events, which may require occasional local travel
Back up other HR functions as needed
