Job Title: Payment Posting Specialist

Job Summary:
The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely posting of payments, denials, and adjustments to patient accounts. This includes reviewing and entering Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), patient payments, and verifying check amounts against supporting documentation.


Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical billing, collections, or healthcare billing systems
  • Familiarity with various insurance plans, including commercial, HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and workers’ compensation
  • Proficient with 10-key by touch and able to type at least 45 words per minute
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong understanding of medical billing terminology and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret EOBs
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
  • Post payments, denials, and adjustments accurately to the appropriate patient accounts
  • Identify and apply payment types, ensuring correct patient and account identification
  • Communicate effectively with patients, insurance providers, and internal teams regarding account inquiries
  • Research and resolve account issues; process refunds or resubmit claims as necessary
  • Notify the appropriate team of insurance denial trends or irregularities
  • Collaborate with offsite departments or teams to verify receipt and accuracy of payments
  • Process incoming documentation and correspondence in a timely manner
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing policies, payer guidelines, and department procedures
  • Ensure work is completed efficiently and with minimal need for rework
  • Respond promptly to requests from coworkers, management, and clients
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings, trainings, or conference calls as needed
  • May handle mail processing or incoming calls to assist with account resolution
  • Perform account reconciliation and assist with reporting tasks as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation

$16-$17 / HR depending on experience.
