Job Summary for Senior Financial Accountant

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting:

   • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
   • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
   • Provide insights into financial performance and trends to senior management.

2. General Ledger and Reconciliations:

   • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of entries.
   • Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

3. Compliance and Auditing:

   • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
   • Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
   • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

4. Budgeting and Forecasting:

   • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts in collaboration with other departments.
   • Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted/forecasted figures, and recommend corrective actions.

5. Process Improvement:

   • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems.
   • Stay updated on industry changes and ensure the organization adopts best practices.

6. Team Leadership:

   • Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth.
   • Lead cross-functional financial projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience. The ideal candidate would have 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. 

Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Compensation: $85 - 100k depending on education and experience plus bonus.
