Financial Tax Accountant

Key Responsibilities of the Financial Tax Accountant: 

  1. Tax Compliance and Reporting:

    • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns accurately and timely.
    • Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
    • Maintain and update tax records and documentation.
  2. Tax Planning and Strategy:

    • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.
    • Advise management on the impact of new tax laws and proposed legislation.
    • Identify opportunities for tax savings and recommend strategies for implementation.
  3. Financial Analysis and Reporting:

    • Conduct tax-related financial analysis and prepare reports for management.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts with a focus on tax implications.
  4. Internal Controls and Audit:

    • Develop and maintain internal controls related to tax processes.
    • Coordinate with external auditors during tax audits and reviews.
    • Address and resolve any tax-related issues identified during audits.
  5. Research and Documentation:

    • Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide clear, concise, and actionable advice.
    • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
    • Document tax positions and decisions for future reference.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with other departments to gather necessary information for tax filings.
    • Communicate effectively with regulatory agencies and external advisors.
    • Provide training and support to junior staff members on tax-related matters.

Qualifications of the Financial Tax Accountant: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax accounting or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in accounting software and tax preparation software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation range is $80,000 - to $115,000 dependent on education, experience and certification.
