Position: Accounting Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support the accounting and operations teams in a fast-paced construction environment. This role will assist with billing, accounts payable, purchase orders, and financial reporting while helping ensure the accuracy and efficiency of daily accounting processes. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and enjoys working in a collaborative team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process customer invoices and progress billing
  • Assist with accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, and payment processing
  • Create, track, and maintain purchase orders
  • Match purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documentation
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Assist with job cost tracking and project-related financial documentation
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and accounting reports
  • Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entry preparation
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and electronic filing systems
  • Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, project managers, and internal departments regarding accounting matters
  • Assist with audits and other special projects as needed
  • Perform additional administrative and accounting duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or accounting support experience
  • Construction, project, or job cost accounting experience preferred
  • Experience processing accounts payable, billing, and purchase orders
  • Familiarity with job costing, project billing, and supporting financial reporting
  • Experience with construction accounting software or ERP systems is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with vendors and internal teams
  • Experience with subcontractor documentation, vendor compliance, or lien waivers is a plus
Pay for the Accounting Assistant is up to $60k/year based on experience.
