Position: Project Accountant / Construction Accountant

Fuse3 Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial operations of a growing construction organization. This role is responsible for managing project-related accounting transactions, tracking job costs, processing billing, and ensuring accurate financial records. The Project Accountant will work closely with project managers and leadership to provide financial visibility on active projects while preparing accounting information for the company's CPA and external accounting partners.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience in construction or project-based accounting, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Process and record accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Generate customer invoices, progress billings, and retainage billings
• Track project costs, budgets, and job profitability
• Monitor subcontractor invoices and ensure proper job cost coding
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
• Maintain accurate project financial records and supporting documentation
• Assist with payroll reporting and labor cost allocation to projects
• Review contracts and change orders for billing accuracy
• Track lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and project-related compliance documentation
• Prepare monthly financial reports and project cost summaries for management
• Coordinate with the external CPA by providing financial data, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure accounting records are accurate and maintained in accordance with company policies

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, project, or job-cost accounting
• Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting
• Experience with project billing, job costing, and contract accounting preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and projects
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with project managers and vendors

Preferred Experience

• Construction accounting software such as Sage, Foundation, Viewpoint, Spectrum, QuickBooks, or similar
• Experience with AIA billing, retainage, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
• Knowledge of construction contracts, change orders, and project financial reporting

The pay range for the Project / Construction Accountant is up to $100k/year based on experience.
