Commercial Lines Account Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Account Manager to provide exceptional service and support to commercial insurance clients. This role is responsible for managing client accounts, processing policy transactions, coordinating renewals, supporting producers, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have strong insurance knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Client Service
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned commercial insurance accounts.
- Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries regarding coverage, policy changes, billing, and claims.
- Review coverage needs and assist clients with policy-related questions and requests.
- Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service.
Policy Processing & Administration
- Process new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and policy changes.
- Review policies for accuracy, including coverage limits, forms, premiums, and commission information.
- Prepare binders, certificates of insurance, evidence of property forms, identification cards, invoices, and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate electronic client records and documentation.
- Process audits and policy transactions in accordance with agency standards.
Producer Support
- Collaborate closely with producers to support client retention and new business development.
- Prepare submissions for new and renewal business opportunities.
- Assist in preparing proposals, statements of values, insurance summaries, and other client-facing materials.
- Communicate important account developments and potential concerns to producers and leadership.
Claims & Compliance
- Report claims to insurance carriers and follow established claims procedures.
- Monitor and manage account activity, including cancellations, premium financing, and delinquent accounts.
- Maintain compliance with agency procedures and industry regulations.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage workflow priorities and maintain suspense items and follow-up activities.
- Process incoming correspondence and documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist team members as needed to support department objectives.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of commercial insurance account management or related insurance agency experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages, policy forms, and underwriting processes.
- Ability to interpret insurance policies, contracts, and related documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with agency management systems and insurance software.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Comfortable learning and utilizing new technology platforms.
Licenses & Certifications
- Active Property & Casualty insurance license required.
- Professional insurance designations such as CISR, CIC, or similar certifications preferred.
