The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient accounting processes. This role leads a team of accounting professionals and partners closely with leadership to support strategic financial decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in managing people, month-end activities, and process improvements.
Lead and manage daily accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; provide coaching and performance feedback.
Assign tasks and manage workload distribution to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
Maintain and enhance internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
Assist with annual audits, coordinating with external auditors and preparing required documentation.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen controls.
Assist with system upgrades, implementations, and enhancements to improve accounting operations.
Develop and maintain accounting SOPs and documentation.
Partner with FP&A, operations, and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial data.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems; advanced Excel skills preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
