This person will serve as a technical SME for datacenter, virtualization, storage, and enterprise server infrastructure — leading design, implementation, and Tier III support across the organization.
This is a high-impact role with ownership of enterprise environments and influence over strategic technology direction.
Responsibilities of the Lead Infrastructure Engineer
Lead the architecture, deployment, and optimization of enterprise virtualization, storage, and server infrastructure.
Design and implement secure, scalable datacenter solutions — including disaster recovery and image archiving.
Serve as Tier III escalation for complex infrastructure issues beyond the service desk or Tier II support.
Drive continuous improvement through performance analysis, capacity planning, and environment optimization.
Oversee installation, configuration, and rollout of new infrastructure technologies and large-scale initiatives.
Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to long-term infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, configurations, standards, and system diagrams.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical team members, fostering knowledge transfer and best practices.
Collaborate with IT leadership, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure stability, security, and reliability of mission-critical systems.
Qualifications of the Lead Infrastructure Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required.
5+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering or systems engineering.
Hands-on expertise with virtualization platforms (VMware preferred), storage solutions, and backup technologies.
Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills with proven experience resolving complex infrastructure issues.
Ability to design and optimize large-scale datacenter environments with performance and scalability in mind.
Strong collaboration skills — able to interface with both technical and operational teams.
VMware or equivalent advanced certification (VCP, VCAP) strongly preferred; must be obtained within 2 years if not already held.
Salary Range of Lead Infrastructure Engineer: $90,000 – $120,000 depending on experience
