Senior Data Engineer

Responsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer:

• Act as the bridge between junior data engineers and the Data Architect, mentoring team members while ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy.

• Design, build, and optimize SQL Server databases and schemas to support both transactional and analytical workloads.

• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to integrate data from diverse enterprise systems.

• Provide end-to-end project visibility, from business requirements through design, development, and delivery.

• Perform advanced query tuning, indexing, and database performance optimization.

• Automate database processes and integrate with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.

• Partner with architects, developers, and analysts to ensure data solutions meet business and technical needs.

• Champion best practices in data engineering, governance, and performance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications of the Senior Data Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.

• 5+ years of professional experience in database engineering or data engineering roles.

• Advanced SQL Server expertise (T-SQL, indexing, schema design, and performance tuning).

• Strong ETL/ELT development experience (SSIS, FME, or comparable tools).

• Hands-on experience with automation, DevOps practices, and version control (e.g., Git, RedGate).

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers while managing priorities across multiple projects.

• Preferred: exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), modern orchestration tools (dbt, Airflow), and BI solutions (Power BI, Fabric).

Salary Range of Senior Data Engineer: $110,000 – $130,000 depending on experience
