The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls. This role is responsible for managing daily accounting functions, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and providing financial analysis to assist leadership in decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Financial Reporting & Close
Assist in managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Support external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Accounting Operations
Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and payroll support.
Maintain general ledger integrity and internal controls.
Assist with implementing and monitoring accounting policies and procedures.
Support system enhancements and automation efforts to improve operational efficiency.
Analysis & Business Support
Analyze financial results and variances, providing insights and recommendations.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
Partner with operational and departmental leaders to ensure financial compliance and clarity.
Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Support the development and maintenance of internal control frameworks.
Identify process improvements and drive best practices throughout the accounting function.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.
3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public accounting or corporate accounting.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Advanced Excel skills; ability to work with large datasets.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment.
Ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
Strong leadership qualities and ability to mentor accounting staff.
